Monday- Labor Day No School Tuesday/Wednesday- MAP Testing Thursday/Friday -Introduction to the Scientific Method. Big Money Words in Science Notebook, Observations vs. Inferences, Is there a gremlin in the drink machine?

Week of 8/25 Monday-Students will review and sign Lab Safety Contract and Identify lab safety violations in a Cartoon. Students will read a Lab Safety Story, and identify the safety violations. Students will learn how to work with others by reviewing the Working with Others sheet and reading the The Story of Fred. Tuesday- Review lab safety by reading Scientific Method Science Safety Rules. Complete lab Safety Quiz. Students will learn how to work with others by reviewing the Working with Others sheet and reading the The Story of Fred. Wednesday/Thursday- Students will review scientific measurement by completing Measurement Practice Review. Students will review how to measure the mass, length and volume of an object by completing Metric Measurement Lab and mass lab. Friday- Students will practice measuring length by collecting data for their "My Personal Growth Chart". Students will collect information like height, arm length, leg length, etc. and remeasure at the end of the year to see how much they have grown over a year. Week of 8/18 Monday- Students will go over Course Outline and bring home for parents to sign. Homework- College Ruled Composition book ( Walmart and Target have them for 50 cents) and Signed Course Outline is due by Friday, August 22. Students will complete "I am a scientist" Activity. Tuesday- Students will play a name game called Do You Know Your Neighbor. Wednesday/Thursday- Students will receive their Life Science Textbook. The text book is to be kept at home. We have a class set we will use at school. Students will also complete a Textbook Scavenger Hunt. Friday- Students will begin the set up of their Interactive Science Notebook. COMPOSITION BOOKS ARE DUE TODAY! I will have some available for students to purchase for 50 cents if students were unable to get to the store. |
